SEATTLE INDIGENOUS YOUTH ARTS & PERFORMANCE – SIYAP

Every summer, RES offers our highly anticipated workshop, SIYAP. Over the course of two weeks, students ages 10-19 collaborate with Native theatre professionals to create an original showcase performance to share with families and community.

Weaving together traditional Indigenous performance elements with contemporary theatre, students get the chance to choose how to be storytellers and how to participate in the creative process:

  • Acting and performing

  • Playing and singing traditional Indigenous or contemporary music

  • Writing and editing scripts

  • Designing and building costumes and sets

  • Developing and running lights and sound

  • Anything else you can dream up!
